Interdisciplinarity is essential to the field gerontology because of the significant relationships among biological, psychosocial and social factors in seniors. The World Health Organization (WHO) considers that functional decline and loss of autonomy are the result of poor interaction among these factors.

Researchers at the Research Centre on Aging are trained in a broad range of disciplines. Geographic proximity and the diverse range of scientific activities at the Centre encourage profitable collaborations which contribute to each field.

The overall work provides a global vision of aging and indicates measures which can be implemented to foster healthy aging or to compensate for age-related loss.
